LuAnn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with twenty-two years experience as a therapist. She offers traditional counseling therapy for Adults, Late Adolescents/Young Adults and the Elderly. She also offers a range of alternative therapies from the burgeoning field of Mind/Body Medicine which can accelerate and complement cognitive and emotional growth and healing. LuAnn’s goal is to support and empower clients seeking to realize their full potential.
LuAnn has worked intensively with children, adolescents, adults and families as an in-patient therapist at Lewis-Gale Center for Behavioral Health and at Bridges Child and Adolescent Treatment Center. She has been a member of the counseling staff at Randolph College since 2005, and has served as a member of the Centra Hospice social work team since 2010.
Her early career as a college instructor fueled her desire to work with young adults on emotional and psychological issues. She completed a masters in Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1996. A creative artist and published poet, she has had a life-long interest in optimizing individual potential and interpersonal relationships. She encourages creative and spiritual self-exploration as foundational to growth in all areas. LuAnn is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, Mental Health America, and the Academy of American Poets.
